What to Pack in a Diaper Bag

For many new moms, the thought of having a new little life to be responsible for may seem a bit overwhelming.  Even leaving the house for a small outing requires a lot of planning and preparation.

In order to possibly make life a little easier, I have compiled a basic list of things you should be sure to pack in your diaper bag.

  • Diapers, the amount will vary depending on how long your outing will be.
  • Wet wipes.  The travel packs are great space savers.
  • A change of clothes.  It may surprise you how quickly that adorable little outfit can get covered in something icky!
  • A ziplock bag.  These are great for the soiled clothes.
  • Diaper rash cream.  No explanation needed.
  • Weather appropriate extras, ie. . .winter hat and gloves, or beach hat and sunscreen.
  • Feeding items, ie. . . formula, bottles, and bottled water, or baby food and spoons.  If nursing, you may want to pack a nursing cover or blanket and nursing pads.
  • A few bibs.
  • A first aid kit.
  • Infant pain reliever and fever reducer
  • A pacifier
  • Toys
  • A baby blanket
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • A camera

I know it may seem like a long list, but once you've got your diaper bag packed, it will be easy to keep it maintained.  Another helpful thing to remember is that if you do happen to forget something, most everything you need can be found at the nearest market.
